Why Monkeys Do Not Make Good Pets

Many people want to have a monkey as a pet after watching a movie or cartoon. Monkeys appear to be intelligent, funny and friendly animals, in addition to looking cute and fun. So, it is natural to want to have a pet. However, whether monkeys make good pets or not is a big question.

One thing to remember is that monkeys become aggressive when they reach sexual maturity. They are prone to mood swings. So, this can be difficult to handle. In addition, they tend to drop feces and throw them. Also, they are known to throw away food and other things. Most importantly, monkeys are carriers of several deadly viruses, such as herpes B. Herpes B can be dangerous to humans.

Many people like to adopt monkeys because they don’t have children. So, they are willing to spend a lot of money to bring monkeys as pets. Monkeys can cost thousands of dollars a year. Also, vets are of the opinion that monkeys are better off with their own kind than being raised by humans because of the mental and emotional disturbances that come with being carried by humans. Veterinarians also consider that if an owner destroys or worships their pet monkey, the monkey will not be able to adjust or fit in the house. They will inevitably engage in behavior that can be called self-destructive.

A monkey cannot be considered a dog or a cat. These animals require a lot of attention and when they grow up, their behavior resembles that of a troublesome and difficult child. Monkeys do not like crowded places with many people and can become aggressive if pushed into such an environment.

Therefore, it can be safely said that monkeys do not make good pets. You should think twice about the consequences of having a monkey as a pet before you decide to adopt it. Be prepared to handle monkeys and moods. Only if you are ready to take on huge responsibilities, you should use monkey. Don’t wear one on a whim or to fulfill some fantasy you can harbor.
